Saturday according to Steve

Today was our first full day here at the sight. We were woken at 5:30 by the sound of howler monkeys. Fortunately they only lasted for about 10 minutes and the benedryl won out and I made it back to sleep. Breakfast was great, they are so kind to us here. Rice and beans is Weird, but not bad. The fresh pineapple and mango was excellent.

David led a devotion and challenged us to think about how we were going to approach the time in the villages doing the dental clinic without Spanish skills.

After eating, we broke into two crews. One for building the gate at the entrance and one for finishing the landscaping. Tommy, Paige, Vince, Aaron, and bart went to build the gate and debbie, Stacy, Kyle, Drew, Jojo, and I worked moving landscaping rocks. It was good hard work and we all got very hot and sweaty. Who would've thought small rocks could weigh so much? It was great to see the youth pitching in. They were awesome, never complained, and worked as hard as anyone. Kudos!!

Tomorrow we'll finish the final piling for the gate and start building a couple extra walkways.

Lunch was an excellent soup and well received. I don't think I'll come home skinnier. While we were working the crew showed up with bamboo screens for the upstairs area. Grand Parkway paid for them and they are really nice looking and will help to keep water away when it rains. Without them the rain just blows in. David and Bart expressed their thanks several times. Good job GPBC!

We're about to eat dinner. About 10 young men (HS and College) have just returned from Panama and will be joining us. They've been here for a month as part of a discipleship training class.

That's all for now. More later. Pray for rest and not-so-sore muscles for us weekend warriors.
